Diabetes runs on both sides of my family. And, I was at high risk.

It started with a blood pressure cuff.

Back in 2005, my mom—then a nursing student—decided to check my dad’s blood pressure. His numbers were so sky-high that she grabbed her keys and drove him straight to the ER.

After some testing, the doctor walked in with a diagnosis that changed everything: diabetes. But, like a lot of people, my dad didn’t really hear it. Sure, he got the diagnosis, but making lifestyle changes? That was a whole other story.

I mean, I love my dad, but let’s just say his “sweet tooth” could rival Willy Wonka’s. He sweetened Crystal Light lemonade (already sweet!) with brown sugar. Before bed. Exercise? Not on the menu. Fast-forward nearly two decades, and his health was hanging on by a thread.

Then came the text I will never forget:

"DANIA. PLEASE CALL DADDYS IN HOSPITAL."

That day, November 7, 2018, my dad had passed out in a Walmart parking lot.

His kidneys had completely failed, and the toxins in his body had reached dangerous levels. The doctors told us he had end-stage renal failure and would need dialysis to stay alive.

Since then, diabetes hasn’t just taken a toll on my dad—it’s waged a full-blown war.

He’s lost five toes. He’s developed cataracts in both eyes. He’s perpetually anemic from dialysis.
And now, two decades after his diabetes diagnosis, I’m his caregiver, navigating the day-to-day battles of managing a chronic illness.

Which brings me to you.

If you’ve ever watched someone you love struggle with diabetes—or felt like you were next in line—you're in the right place.

Maybe it runs in your family. Maybe you've been told you're “on the verge.”

Maybe you just want to understand your body better so you can stay ahead of it. Whatever brought you here, know this: you are not alone, and you are not powerless.

When I first started using a continuous glucose monitor, it was like someone handed me a metabolic cheat code. I stopped guessing and started learning. I ran food experiments, tracked patterns, and figured out what actually worked for me. Not what the internet said. Not what some trend promised. What my body needed.

And the results? Life-changing. More energy. Better sleep. Fewer cravings. Clearer skin. Weight loss that didn’t feel like a battle. All from understanding how food impacts blood sugar.

Glucose Gone Wild was born from that experience— but it's not just my story anymore.

It’s a space for people like you—the curious ones, the tired ones, the ones who’ve had enough of watching this stuff silently run through their families.

This is edutainment with heart. A little science, a little sass, and a whole lot of “same here.”

Because you deserve tools that actually help. You deserve to feel good in your body. And if nobody’s told you this yet: you can change your future.

Let’s get wild—in the blood sugar kind of way.
